3rd Annual Goblin Valley Ultra Marathon

WELCOME!!

Howdy, folks! Come on down to San Rafael country and join us in our third year running the “goblin gauntlet” in the fantasy world at Goblin Valley State Park in Southeastern Utah. This year we are offering the Ultra 50 km and the 25 km runs as we did in 2006, and also a five-mile run for beginners of all ages.

The 2008 Goblin Valley Ultra Marathon will begin Friday, October 24th, with a pre-registration dinner in Green River, Utah. The race begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. at the Goblin Valley State Park. You will need to allow at least one hour to reach the park from Green River, and parking will be limited. Get there early to park close to the start line. Itinerary, maps, and coupons will be mailed to registered runners. For accommodations, please visit the Green River Chamber of Commerce website.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

We would like to thank the nearly 100 runners who made this run such a success in 2005 and 2006. We also extend our appreciation to the sponsors, volunteers, and city and county agencies who have enthusiastically assisted with everything from aid stations to clean up. We especially want to give a rousing big “HOOAH” to Anita Fromm who brought this fantastic opportunity to stretch our legs in the beautiful San Rafael country of southeastern Utah to us.

CHANGE OF DIRECTION:

When Anita Fromm first contacted the Green River Chamber of Commerce about recruiting volunteers to help with her Ultra Marathon to be run in the wilds of Goblin Valley State Park and Little Wild Horse Canyon, we were soooo excited!! She warned us then that with her life style, and being in the military, that she some day might not be able to direct the race, and she has been training some of us to be good race directors. This year, the inevitable has happened. Anita and Tim may be stationed on the east coast some time this summer. So, this year the Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the 2008 Goblin Valley Ultra Marathon. Anita is a great teacher, and we will continue with her as Co-Director. The change will be so seamless, past runners will not even see a difference! Connie Copenhaver, who has been actively involved with the race since the first one, has agreed to serve as Race Director this year. You will see her contact information on the Contact Info page and throughout the website. We wish Anita and Tim the best of the best in the coming move.
