NEW FOR THIS YEAR!!
Well, we learned a lot from our first marathon on our own. We have listened to your comments, come up with some ideas on our own, and made these changes. We would still like to hear from you if you feel we have forgotten something or have a better suggestion!
AID STATIONS: Some of our stations were closer or farther than others. We have decided to put another aid station between 3 and 4, so we will have 5 stations this year. Yay! Also, there will be potties at all stations.
REGISTRATION DINNER: Our Registration Dinner will be held at Green River’s new Senior Center. The registration dinner is free to all participants, including family and friends. Donations are always welcome.
From Main Street, turn south on Solomon Street, in one block you will see the Elementary School. Turn left. You will see the new center on your left. Maps to the site will be in your Welcome Bags, which you will be getting some time in September.
This year the menu will be potato/corn chowder, sautéed garden-fresh squash, bread sticks and pumpkin bars. Sorta. If the menu changes, we will post it.
DROP BAGS: Duh! We didn’t realize until we were well into the race that the “drop bags” were not only to drop things you no longer needed to wear or carry (like jackets), but also contained changes of clothing that you would need along the route. As a result, last year we were late in getting the drop bags to the aid stations. This year, drop bags will leave the start area BEFORE the start of the race. Please be prepared with your drop bags and have them at the drop area by 7:30 a.m.
Your drop bags need to be well identified, and please do not drop items without a bag. Extra plastic bags will be available at the drop site and at all aid stations. Drop bags will be returned by the sweep guys, so they will not be back to the start area until 2:00 p.m. or after.
T-SHIRTS: Last year, everyone got to go through the shirts and pick out “their” shirt. Some forgot the size they ordered, because toward the end there were no sizes left except XLG. This year, the size of t-shirt you entered on your entry form will be in your registration bag. If there is more than one color, colors will be distributed at our discretion. Maybe you can trade with another runner.
